Pope Urban was well known for starting the First Crusade
His first crusade moment started at Council of Piacenza, when in March 1095 Urban asked Alexius I Comenenus for help against the Muslims and he received and ambassador from the Byzantine Empire.
Pope Urban II asked Frenchman to turn their swords in favor of god and the reply from the Frenchmen was Dieu le veult which means God wills it.
On July 29,1099 Pope Urban II died only fourteen days after the Fall of Jerusalem to the Crusaders

Godfrey started in August of 1096 at the head of the army for Lorraine, 40,000 men strong. He lived from 1060-1100.
First of the crusade leaders to reach Constantinople and talk to the Byzantine Emperor Alexius I Comnenus.
Godfrey was active in the successful crusades of Nicaea and Antioch.
During Godfrey's reign he expanded his power by bringing several towns under his control

Pope Innocent III was pope from January 8, 1198 until his death which was June 16, 1216.
Innocent III called for the Fourth Crusade in 1198, directing the call towards knights and nobles of Europe instead of the kings.
He also summoned the Fourth Lateran Council in November 12, 1215.
